school visits

The core of Target Schools' mission is to bust myths by getting current Oxford students to chat to schools about their experience of life at Oxford. Most of our volunteers organise school visits themselves, normally by going back to their old school and ones in their local area, although sometimes schools contact us directly to ask for volunteers.

We encourage you to draw on your own experiences when talking to pupils, but we will also arm you with the facts and figures to enable you to give correct advice on accommodation, finances, applications, and other areas confusing to those not at Oxford. You can download our training presentation from our resources page which has more information.

If you would like to visit a school, you first need to attend a short (40 min), informal training session. Please visit our events section for times and locations. Attending the session in no way commits you to anything, but it is necessary to give you information about how the visits will be organised, how you can get reimbursement for travel, and brief you about best practice.
