target schools - aims

Target Schools aims to provide hard facts and real experiences for pupils, so that they are in an informed position to make up their mind about Oxford.

The most effective tool to do this is you, the students! We encourage students to volunteer and share their enthusiasm, energy and experiences to help us. We have already established a school visit system whereby students go back to schools in their local area and talk to pupils about their Oxford experience.

This term we are starting a student shadowing scheme, whereby pupils come to Oxford for a day, shadow an undergraduate and attend workshops on interview techniques, essay writing, and possibly even mock-tutorials.

We are limited by the amount of help we get, but our overall aim, whatever project we embark upon, is to encourage pupils from backgrounds that are under-represented at Oxford to aspire to applying to Oxford and other world-class institutions.
