oxford student's faqs
How much time does being a volunteer take up?
As much or as little time as you can manage. Generally most of our volunteers do their school visits during the vacations at Easter or, more likely, the end of summer, so you won't be missing any term-time work to help out.
I'm a postgrad, can I still get involved?
All students of the University are more than welcome to get involved with Target Schools. What we would say is that the school students to whom our volunteers speak are interested in undergraduate courses at the University so if you've not got much experience of undergraduate life and study at Oxford then you might not be in the best position to help. If you're unsure or would like to get involved in other access programs do get in touch and we can chat further. There are a range of outreach programs beyond the work which Target Schools does.
I'm an international student, can I still get involved?
Currently Target Schools' training materials and information are geared towards schools in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. While we're more than happy for international students to come to training sessions, there's not too much help after that we can give you. However, OUSU is currently developing an International Students Access Scheme which we'll keep you updated with as it progresses. In the mean time, contact international@ousu.org for more information.
